Guess who just got NBN installed? This LAN!

StreetGeek’s regular venue at the Colonel Light Gardens Uniting Church now has a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) enabled Internet connection provided by the National Broadband Network. Best still, we have gone for the 100/40 Mbps plan, meaning StreetGeek now has one of the fastest internet connections around available to a LAN Party, with download speeds up to 12.5 megabytes per second! This connection will be available at RetroLAN and at all LAN events held at the Colonel Light Gardens Uniting Church.

We will still be keeping our captive portal internet solution to enable limitations on total downloads and max download & upload speed per device to ensure that everyone gets a fair share of the bandwidth available. However, this means we will be able to increase these allocations to ensure that people can now do things such as play online only games a lot faster and easier with less ping time and with less lag.

Our network team is still working on how this will all pan out and planning on how to integrate this amazing connection into our network. But if you want to come along and game with your mates and with incredible internet, StreetGeek is now the place for you!
